The DAAD Information Centre in Riga, with responsibility for the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, is looking for a dedicated full-time employee for study counselling, administration and programme coordination, starting as soon as possible.
Your tasks:
- Provide counselling on study and research opportunities in Germany and on DAAD scholarship programmes for individuals from all academic disciplines and at different stages of their academic careers, in particular students, researchers, university professors and higher education administrative staff.
- Provide logistical and organisational support for the planning and implementation of information events and education fairs, including preparing tender documents, managing invitations, monitoring and evaluation, communicating with participants and experts, arranging flight, hotel and restaurant bookings, catering and other related tasks.
- Support the preparation of country-specific reports, publications and promotional materials and/or assist in editing articles and publications for communication channels (website incl. maintenance, newsletter, social media, etc.).
- Support the analysis of the respective education sector of the Baltic States by preparing country reports, higher education system analyses and other knowledge resources in coordination with the Head of the Information Centre.
- Maintain contacts with partner organisations (universities, education and research institutions, etc.) and DAAD Alumni in the Baltic States, and support regional networking by assisting with the organisation and implementation of networking events, alumni meetings and other event formats.
- Carry out administrative tasks and provide support in the day-to-day operations of the Information Centre.
- Support budget management and financial reporting.
- Provide translations.
Your profile:
- Completed university degree (at least BA); if possible, study experience in Germany
- Profound knowledge of the school and university systems of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
- Good understanding of the German higher education system
- Strong communication and intercultural skills
- Very good Latvian language skills (at native-speaker level)
- Very good English skills and very good German language proficiency (at least B2)
- Proficiency in common Office applications
- Work experience in study counselling and/or in the cultural and educational sector is preferred
- Organizational talent, dedication and ability to work under pressure
- Work and unrestricted residence permit in Latvia
Working conditions are subject to Latvian law. A local comparative salary will be paid. Possible entry-level salary 1,748 EUR gross per month; private health insurance is available. In addition, we offer training possibilities related to the position and a family-friendly working environment.
