Internship at the Saeima 2026: Apply by 26 April
The internship will take place from 1 to 30 September 2026 in Riga. A mandatory preparatory course at the University of Latvia will be held on the last weekend of August.
Eligible applicants are German citizens up to 30 years of age with at least a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in political science or related fields). Strong English skills are required; Latvian is an asset. A clear career interest in the public sector or other socially relevant areas, as well as relevant engagement, will be considered positively.
Funding includes a 500 EUR scholarship, a travel allowance of up to 380 EUR and an insurance allowance of up to 50 EUR. Free accommodation is provided at the Parliament’s guesthouse in Jūrmala, and commuter rail costs between Jūrmala and Riga are covered.
Applications must be submitted electronically in a single PDF (motivation letter and CV in English, degree certificates, transcript of records, proof of English proficiency) by email with the subject “Parlaments-Stipendium-Lettland-2026” to info.riga@daad.de.
Participants are selected through a two‑stage process conducted by the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Berlin in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Saeima’s Office for Interparliamentary Relations. Following a preliminary screening based on the submitted documents, some applicants will be invited to a personal selection interview with representatives of the Latvian Embassy. The interview will be conducted virtually.
