Media and Democracy is an important field in nowadays Lavtia and crucial for democracy. International community, including the German Embassy is supporting media in Latvia, paying attention to media literacy, critical thinking and participation in democratic processes.
Looking at Agenda2030 and Sustainable Develpoment Goals, we see that media, and media literacy stems from Goal 4: Quality Education up to the goal 16: Peace and Justice Strong Institutions and Goal 17: Partnership to achieve the goal.
During our SprachCafe on 23.02.2018 we will discuss what are the fundamental changes in media landscape nowadays, how 'old' media interact with 'new' media, and if social media platforms mean the end of media as we knew it before. We will also look into what are the basics of media literacy and critical thinking as pre-requsites for responisble 'media consumption'.

German Alumnis are welcome to meet the German Embassy as well as other Germany Alumnis on 23rd February in NicePlace Telpa Kr. Barona street 21a!
